Who are we?
Oyster Active was set up by Mike Clay who personally selects all of the hotels, routes and itineraries in the packages. You may catch him guiding them too.
Mike’s inspiration draws from working in the hotel industry for many years, instructing at and managing outdoor pursuit centres in the UK and the French Alps, designing and managing brand experiences for Aston Martin, Land Rover and Jaguar and, above all, a simple love of the outdoors.
So with this professional background and the fact that he has been mountain biking for 20 years he knows how to bring together the luxurious world of fine living and the thrills of mountain biking.
We also enrol the help of the best local experts for our various packages. These include highly qualified mountain bike guides, local producers of the finest foods, alternative activity providers and cultural and environmental advisors.
Our Environment
Oyster Active relies upon the goodwill of Mother Nature to provide us with an environment to enjoy so we must pay back that goodwill with respect. We endeavour to carry out everything we do in an environmentally aware way; from relying on the internet to carry our brochure instead of producing a weighty glossy magazine to selecting organic, local produce for lunch on the trail and making efficient use of our transport.
We are however realistic, many of you will be travelling long distances to mountain bike with us, which of course does leave a footprint on the environment. You may therefore choose to ‘offset’ some of that impact by giving a little back to the environment. If you wish to do so then click on this link to find out more www.treeflights.com This is completely independent of Oyster Active but we have selected a project in Wales and is purely at your discretion. We contribute in this way whenever we travel.
Most importantly we respect the land we pass through, taking care to leave nothing but light tracks and take nothing but memory and experience.
